Junior Years will hold our commemoration for Anzac Day on Monday 24 April at 9:00am in the Assembly hall. This service will be conducted by the Glennie School Chaplain, Rev’d Kate Powell.

Junior Years Sport

Friday Sport

This term in Junior Years, we will be focusing on athletics in preparation for the carnivals later this term. Coaches will provide the girls with training in the many events. This will be held at school, from 1.45pm (after lunch) until 3.15pm.  

Wednesday Afternoon Sports Training

Wednesday afternoon sports training will be held each week, for girls in Years 5 and 6. All girls are expected to attend unless they have let Miss Potter know of other activities which they need to attend. This training will finish at 4.15pm during Term 2.

Year 5 Camp

The Year 5 girls will be exploring with their teachers, Mr Griffiths and Mrs Kelidon, the values of mateship, teamwork and camaraderie at their camp at Emu Gully from Wednesday 26 to Friday 28 April. This camp will focus around the Anzac Day theme.

A meeting is being held for Year 6 parents while the girls are at sports training next Wednesday 26 April from 3.30pm to 4.15pm in the Junior Years Art room.

Junior Years Class Photographs

Your daughter’s class photographs were sent home this week. Please note that these will be charged at $35 per set. Unfortunately we can only offer the full sets you have received, not individual photos.

If you would like to keep the photographs, these will automatically be charged to your fees. If you do not wish to keep them, please return them to Junior Years Reception at your earliest convenience.

Invitational Touch Carnival

17 March 2017

The Andrews Cup Touch Carnival has been rescheduled to Tuesday 21 March at Kearney’s Spring. Further details will come from Miss Potter soon. This will now be an invitational carnival as not all schools are able to participate. No trophies or pennants will be allocated in 2017. Certificates will be presented to the winning teams.

Volunteer Inductions

Thank you to all of our volunteers. We really appreciate what you do for the School.

Please note: All volunteers must attend an induction session. This is a requirement of the Anglican Schools Commission.

If you are currently volunteering or plan to do so, please be sure to attend the next session, or contact the Junior Years office to make arrangements for an alternate induction. Junior Years Parent Reps need to attend an induction.

Cross Country

10 March 2017

Our annual Interhouse Cross Country will take place on Thursday 16 March at Kearneys Spring, corner Ruthven and Spring Streets, Toowoomba. The children will be transported by buses that will depart from Glennie at 8.45 am and will return from Kearneys Spring at approximately 12.45 pm. The girls will return to school before lunch and resume their afternoon school lessons; girls will require their normal lunch sent from home.

Your daughter is required to wear her sports uniform with her house coloured polo shirt and bucket hat. Girls may run in their Glennie bike pants. Please try to ensure that your daughter has applied sunscreen before school that day.

Girls will need to bring a small snack in a named, disposable bag and plenty of water. Students will be provided with morning tea.

Personal Development Sessions

3 March 2017

Personal Development Sessions for girls in Years 4, 5 and 6 and their parents will be held on Tuesday 21 March (after an early finish to Choir rehearsal).

There will be three half-hour sessions in the Year 6B classroom (next to the Art Room), at the following times:

  • 4:30pm – 5:00pm                                                     
  • 5:00pm – 5:30pm  
  • 5:30-pm - 6:00pm

Parents have the choice of attending whichever session(s) they feel are most appropriate.

Alternative Induction Session

Many thanks to those people who attended the Junior Years Induction for Volunteers this week.

We are offering another session on Monday 27 February from 5:15 pm to 6:15 pm.

It is a requirement of the Anglican Schools Commission, that all volunteers, including Parent Representatives, attend a session.

Life Education

24 February 2017

All children from Kindy to Year 6 will have the opportunity to participate in workshops around living a healthy lifestyle when the Life Education Van visits Glennie from Monday 27 February to Monday 6 March.

This program forms a part of our Health curriculum in the Junior Years.

Afternoon Pick-up

When coming into the Junior Years in the afternoons to collect their daughter, we would ask that you wait in the courtyard area away from the classrooms. At this time of day, the girls are completing tasks and being given instructions for homework or the following day. This can be distracting for little ones if parents are outside of the classroom. Thank you for your help and support with this.

Mayoral Morning Tea

A group of six Year 6 School Officials, accompanied by Mr Warren, will attend the Mayor’s Morning Tea on Thursday 16 February. This annual event gives the girls the opportunity to meet with other Year 6 leaders from across the region.

Parent Volunteers Indcution

10 February 2017

An Induction session is being held for all volunteers on Thursday 16 February from 8.30am to 9.30am in the Junior Library. Those helpers who participated in this session last year will only be required for approximately 15 minutes while some refresher updates are undertaken.

If you are unavailable that morning, would you please speak with Mrs Suhr to arrange an alternate session.

It is a requirement at Glennie that all parents participate in one of these induction sessions. We do appreciate your time and thank you for your support of Junior Years activities.
