Equestrian

16 July 2015

A team of 21 Glennie girls and their horses travelled to Maryborough to compete at the State Interschool Equestrian Championships. The championships were held over four days. Not only were the girls competing for the School, they were also competing for selection in the Queensland team to ride at the National Interschool Championships being held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre during the next school holidays.

The State Championships are getting larger each year as the event gains in popularity around the state. Against some stiff opposition and large classes, there were some excellent individual performances. As a team, Glennie was one of the largest and our Primary team won three out of the four disciplines, whilst the Secondary teams placed in each discipline. A wonderful effort girls: well done!

Selections for the state team will be finalised after the weekend of 25 and 26 July, where the girls will be competing at Morgan Park in Warwick in the State Combined Training and Eventing Championships. We wish them the best of luck.

We would particularly like to thank Mrs Ashley-Cooper for taking time out of her busy schedule to watch the girls ride on the second day. She spent the best part of half a day seeing as many riders as possible and the girls and their parents were most appreciative of this.

After the State Equestrian Championships, Grace and Eve Muirhead competed at the State Pony Club Dressage and Combined Training Championships held at Burpengary. Eve won the state title for 10 & Under Combined Training and Grace won the state title for 12 & Under Combined Training. Well done, girls!
