A Message from the Head of Senior Years

4 September 2015

Quite recently a number of national and international media outlets ran the story of Malala Yousafzai’s outstanding GCSE examination results. How wonderful it was to read, given her incredible story of bravery and resilience. Incongruously, the article sat alongside other leading stories involving women – those relating to cosmetic surgery, sexting and waitress tell-all’s. As a community we need to challenge this negative cultural narrative, as positive stories of female endeavour and success are all around us. Girls at Glennie and across the country are excelling in their studies, engaging in high levels of volunteering and demonstrating outstanding emotional intelligence. Keep it up, girls; you are wonderful role models!
