Sending a girl to school

3 November 2017

Did you know that there are 66 million girls that aren’t able to attend school around the world? They can’t attend school for a number of reasons including lack of money, violence at school, early marriage or pregnancy, poverty or simply because they are a girl. When a girl living in a third world country receives a full eight years of education she is four times less likely to be married as a child, and just one extra year of schooling can give her the opportunity to earn up to 20% more as an adult.

This year, instead of spending money on a tutor party or secret Santa, the girls from Tutor Group 8D have decided to put that money towards a better cause, sending a girl to school.  8D are confident they can raise $140 and are calling upon the Middle and Senior Years girls to be involved. Any leftover funds raised will help to purchase school supplies for children to use,  hand washing stations for hygiene or even small animals for a farm that could provide an income and a source of food.

We are asking the girls in Middle and Senior Years to open their hearts and pockets to donate whatever they can. If each girl contributed, even just a little, we may be able to change the world... one girl at a time. All donations will be gratefully accepted through tutor classes.
