On Tuesday, the Year 10 Legal Studies class visited the Toowoomba Courthouse for their Court Report assessment task.
The girls were able to sit in on a murder trial in the Supreme Court, as well as observe arrests court proceedings in a very busy Magistrates Court. The girls were also given a rare opportunity to tour the Toowoomba Watchhouse, seeing the holding cells, exercise yard, clothing and booking procedures. In combination with their experience viewing court cases, the girls gained a very clear understanding that the consequences of criminal acts were definitely not desirable.
On behalf of the girls, I would like to thank Roger Stark, Toowoomba Courthouse Registrar and Senior Sergeant Regan Draheim for their time and hospitality.
