Equestrian

6 October 2017

The recent September holidays saw a number of Glennie girls ride in the Australian Pony Club Championships in the first week and the Marcus Oldham Australian Interschool Equestrian Championships in the second week to finish off the year of competition.

Australian Pony Club Championships

Sarah Coggan, Imogen Taylor and Grace Muirhead were members of the winning Queensland team at the Australian Pony Club Championships held at the Toowoomba Showgrounds in the first week of the holidays. Sarah was 4th in Medium Dressage and 7th overall in the Junior Competition (13-17 years) and Imogen Taylor placed in her Dressage class. Grace was a member of the winning junior Showjumping (QLD) side and was 7th overall in the Junior competition (13-17 years).

Marcus Oldham Australian Interschool Equestrian Championships

Five Glennie girls were part of a 100 member Queensland team that competed at the Toowoomba Showgrounds in the second week of the holidays in the Marcus Oldham Australian Interschool Equestrian Championships.  Ellie Reedy, was chosen to be the Vice-Captain of the Queensland Combined Training team, a great honour for her.

Queensland was the overall winner of the Harry Le Bherz Perpetual Trophy ahead of NSW and Victoria. All Glennie girls rode well achieving excellent individual results. They are to be congratulated for their sportsmanship and perseverance as the wind did play havoc with riders.

Individual Results:

  • Grace Muirhead: Secondary Showjumping (100cm) – 3rd
  • Piper Wise: Secondary Dressage - Intermediate Preliminary – 5th
  • Sarah Coggan: Secondary Dressage: Advanced – 6th;  Secondary Dressage: Prix St George – 6th
  • Rebecca Roellgen: Secondary Combined Training (60cm) – 10th
  • Ellie Reedy: Secondary Eventing – 80cm: 11th

As this is the last major interschool competition for the year, I would like to extend a huge thank you to all parents, coaches and others who have assisted and supported the Glennie Equestrian Team for 2017.
