Early on Sunday 9 July, 52 students from Glennie’s Middle and Senior Years Choirs combined to create The Glennie Chamber Choir, and boarded a bus to attend the ASPIRE Festival of Music in Brisbane.
The girls presented their adjudicated performance where they came equal second to Westlakes Choir from Auckland. The girls then attended a workshop with Brett Wehmark from Sydney, where he inspired the girls to new heights. After a public concert, the girls prepared for their performance at the Gala Concert in the evening where the Glennie Chamber Choir closed out the evening with a brilliant performance of Spirit of Australia that was written for Glennie by the composer Donna Dyson and Damien Leith.
Well done to all of the girls and to Miss Kann and Mrs Evans for their exceptional work as conductor and accompanist.
