The past weekend saw a number of boarders head off for a three-day break and, for the rest of us, a slightly quieter time in boarding. Mrs Ash made Mother's Day gifts with the younger girls on Saturday and Brown House headed to the PCYC markets on Sunday, and the movie, Beauty and the Beast on Monday.
The Catering Staff created a lovely grazing brunch on Monday which they always produce as a treat on public holidays. The later start provided an opportunity for many girls to relax and have some additional sleep. I was on Monday duty in Simmons House, and the remaining Year 12 boarders had a sleep in, some study time and a generally relaxing day. It is important for boarding to be home-like and allow young people to have the benefits and comforts of home.
For the coming weekend, there will be Friday chess, line dancing and some of the Brown House boarders are travelling to Jondaryan Woolshed on Sunday. Fairholme Year 12 girls will join our Year 12s for dinner and socialising on Monday.
