The Week in Boarding

4 November 2016

Boarding students enjoyed a fun evening of dressing up in work shirts and combining this with Bingo on Tuesday evening. There was a voluntary donation, with contributions going towards the Year 12 girls’ chosen fund. The only gambling at Bingo nights is for mini chocolates! Bingo remains a much-loved boarder after dinner activity, and we do this once per term. Some enterprising girls suggested weekly Bingo!

This and the Christmas dinner will be two of the last functions organised by the current Boarding Committee. 2016 Boarder Captain Jennifer Stewart and Vice-Captain Georgia Kennedy have been wonderful organisers and role models. Aimee Sullivan has also successfully fulfilled the role of Dining Room Captain.

The 2016 Boarding Committee have been a cohesive group of young women who have made a significant contribution to boarding and we celebrated their successful year with a lovely afternoon tea at the Parkhouse Cafe on Monday.

We welcome new Boarder Captain Lucy Geddes and Vice-Captain Bella Joseland to their roles and also Courtney Baker to the position of Dining Room Captain. The 2017 Boarding Committee looks to be an impressive and energetic group who held their first breakfast meeting on Wednesday.

There are many functions at this stage of the year for boarders to enjoy. Due to the recent tragedy at Dreamworld, our end of year boarding excursion has been transferred to Movie World which was the choice of both Brown and Dowson boarders.

Chess and the Sunday Swimming session are available this weekend. The Year 7 boarders enjoyed making Scratch-Art Christmas trees and calendars with me on Wednesday evening (pictured).
