Head Lights

wasAt the Independent Schools Queensland State Forum last week, one of the speakers, media commentator and regular panellist on ABC’s Gruen Planet, Ms Carolyn Miller spoke of the social media landscape and its impact on schools. We all know that technology is driving us socially, with many of us using up to five devices at any one time. According to Social Media News, (February 2015), Facebook is still number one in popularity, with 13.8m users. 85% of mums in Australia use Facebook daily, each with an average of 318 “friends”. YouTube follows closely, with 13.5m users.

This has implications for us as a school as we look at how best to communicate with parents on a regular basis. We are constantly reviewing this to ensure that we can provide you with the information you need. Ms Miller suggested, when posting on Facebook, that we use the Acronym THINK.

Is your post:

TRUE?
HELPFUL?
INSPIRATIONAL?
NECESSARY?
KIND?

I like this. We will use this as we post. Will you join us too?
