Head Lights

wac-web-1What are all these badges? I exclaimed, looking at an advertisement for a school on the Gold Coast last week. Girls were positively festooned with badges on their collars. This harked back to the Glennie of old. Shortly before my time, a decision was taken to do away with them: except for the school, house and name badge of course, which are worn by everyone. The Head’s Award for Attitude, Commitment and Effort was my compromise: a way of recognising and rewarding effort and involvement without turning into a Christmas tree. One badge: ascending levels. It works well. Go Glennie!
